Adam Walker Website
Adam Walker is running for Mayor in Qualicum Beach in the October 17, 2026 local election. This fact check tests the policy and money claims in Adam Walker’s campaign website, adamwalker.ca against Town of Qualicum Beach records: Council minutes, budgets and staff reports. We rated one claim: one accurate. We also set out the record behind four of the promises.
Walker’s website is mostly promises and says little that his questionnaire answers didn’t, and we checked those in full. His experience as a councillor and MLA is on record, and his voting and donation information is right. Below, we recap what his questionnaire answers showed on the issues his site raises.
- Accurate × 1
We checked the policy and money claims in Adam Walker’s campaign website, adamwalker.ca. Quotes are exact; […] marks words left out. Each finding lists its sources: Town documents first, then news reports where the Town hasn’t published the facts. What the verdicts mean.
Checked September 22, 2026.

Deep roots, new energy
“I’ve served this community as a Town Councillor and as our MLA.”
Accurate He was elected to Qualicum Beach Council in 2018 and was MLA for Parksville-Qualicum from 2020 to 2024.
- The Province’s 2020 biography of him says he was a Qualicum Beach councillor from 2018 to 2020, and was elected MLA in 2020.
- He was MLA until the 2024 provincial election. He ran as an Independent in the new Ladysmith-Oceanside riding and came third.

Promises and opinions: the record so far
We don’t rate promises or opinions. Where the website raises an issue with a public record, here is what it shows.
-
My priorities: Taxes you can plan around
“Invest wisely, spend carefully, and plan ahead to keep taxes steady and predictable.”
This is a promise, so we don’t rate it. The Town’s current plan projects municipal tax increases of 6.0%, 4.0%, 6.4% and 7.4% for 2027 to 2030. His questionnaire answer, which added those up to 26%, was accurate.

-
My priorities: Our village character
“Enhance our small-town charm, and keep new development in the right places, at the right scale.”
This is a promise, so we don’t rate it. In his questionnaire he objected to the Eaglecrest rezoning. We confirmed that it allows up to three storeys in one zone and five in another.

My priorities: Healthcare close to home
“Champion the primary care and seniors’ housing we need today and in the years ahead.”
This is a promise, so we don’t rate it. His questionnaire answers on the refused 125-bed care home and the Nanaimo hospital tower were both accurate.
- Council refused the care home at 431 College Road on October 22, 2025, 3–2.
- Both major party leaders promised the hospital tower in October 2024. The 2026 provincial budget funds only initial planning.

-
My priorities: A community that thrives
“Support the arts, local events, and recreation that bring families and neighbours together.”
This is a promise, so we don’t rate it. In his questionnaire he said support for community groups isn’t fairly distributed or transparent. The Town’s records back that up: ten community requests this term asked for $431,054 and got $105,600.
Sources: Regular Council minutes, Feb 8, 2023 (Town of Qualicum Beach); Regular Council minutes, Jan 17, 2024 (Town of Qualicum Beach); Regular Council minutes, Feb 7, 2024 (Town of Qualicum Beach)
We didn’t check his background, because the Town records we hold don’t cover it: that he was born and raised in Qualicum Beach, his business and family farm, and his account of the community effort that built the Civic Centre, The Old School House and Town Hall.
