A plain record of what Qualicum Beach Council decided about community funding, built entirely from the Town’s own public documents so anyone can check it.

Who made this

Let Them Eat Golf is run by a group of Qualicum Beach residents. It is independent and is not affiliated with the Town of Qualicum Beach.

This site is a personal view only. It is not paid for, sponsored or authorized by any candidate, party or campaign.

The facts are presented as neutrally as we can: what was asked, what was decided, and the reason recorded. Where a number could mislead, we say so.

How this was compiled

• Minutes of 60 Council meetings (January 2025 to July 31, 2026) and 20 Committee of the Whole meetings.
• The staff reports and scoping sheets that state the amounts requested.
• For September 9, 2026, the agenda and the Town’s Council Corner summary, because the minutes are not yet posted.
• All from the Town’s public document library at qualicumbeach.com.

“Times at Council” counts only public Council and Committee of the Whole meetings where the item came up. It does not count other committees or informal contact with staff.

Individual members of community groups are not named on this site. Council members are named because their votes are public record.

Minutes record how each member voted, but rarely why. The debate itself is on the Town’s YouTube channel.

What we couldn’t find

• September 9, 2026 votes are not yet public.
• The Old School House request was also discussed in a closed meeting (July 9, 2025). That discussion is not public.
• No follow-up was found for the Hamilton Marsh motion, the lawn bowling roof assessment, or Eaglecrest land-sale revenue.
• The Seaside Cruizers Father’s Day Show & Shine received $2,000 (May 13, 2026, 4–1, Young opposed), but the amount requested is not in the minutes, so it is not listed.
• Capital projects reprioritized to pay for the $2,581,000 Seacrest Place slope stabilization (January 22, 2025) are not itemized in the minutes.
• November 2025 Committee of the Whole minutes record a recommendation on St. Stephen’s that conflicts with December’s outcome. It may be a minutes error.

Looked at, but not counted

• Skatepark (March 4, 2026). A defeated motion would have cut the skatepark fountain and washroom from $60,000 to $30,000. Its defeat kept full funding.
• Seniors’ Centre space (September 9, 2026). Council invited the Centre to request subsidized space before the 2027 budget. No request was refused.
• Community Park facility and community gardens. Both have been scheduled for 2028 since 2023, so they were not pushed back.
• Bus garage, pickleball courts (Town share) and public works workplace. Pushed back in July 2025, then restored.
