Running for Mayor

Nessa Cymbalisty

Nessa Cymbalisty is running for Mayor of Qualicum Beach on October 17, 2026. She hasn’t held public office, and she wasn’t on the ballot in 2022.

Our fact checks of what her campaign says, and what the public record shows about her: Town of Qualicum Beach records, other public records and news reports, each linked on its page.

What we fact checked

  • Mayor candidate

    Nessa Cymbalisty Questionnaire

    • Accurate × 2

Her answers are mostly aims, not facts, and the two facts she states hold up. Some of her promises are already in place; others would take a majority of Council, not just the Mayor.

  • Mayor candidate

    Nessa Cymbalisty Website

    • Accurate × 1

Cymbalisty’s website is about her, not the Town: her experience, her business and how to reach her. It makes no claims about Council or Town finances. The election facts it gives are right: the two all-candidates meetings and voting day.

Public record

She wasn’t a candidate in the 2022 Qualicum Beach election. Elections BC lists no penalty against her.

She told NanaimoNewsNOW that she moved to the Oceanside area in 2020, that she first planned to run for Council, and that she chose to run for Mayor after looking into the Mayor’s 2023 defamation settlement. Our page on the lawsuit has the details. She also said she would hire Adam Walker, who is running against her for Mayor, as a consultant for the Town.
